During the early years of WWII, a flight school was run in the
small town I later grew up in to train civilian pilots. The pilots were needed
to help patrol the coastlines, watching for any signs of invasion, and also to
help ferry airplanes around the country to where they were needed. I've always
felt proud that my Dad and the small town I grew up in were a part of this and
consider it an exciting part of my ethnic history.
